■ E8a and E10A-U S B on-chip emulator s
The E8a and E10A-USB emulators are desi g ned to
connect with Renesas ’ H8 Tiny and JTAG on-chip
debu gg in g interfaces, respectively. These low-cost tools
provide real-time debu gg in g on the tar g et device, usin g
the dedicated debu gg in g resources built into the tar g et
microcontroller in your user hardware. The on-chip
emulators connect to the tar g et system via an interface
that can be used both to debu g the system and to
pro g ram the MCU ’ s on-chip flash memory.
The E8a and E10A-USB emulators use plu g -and-play
USB 2.0 compatible interfaces for easy connection to
both notebook computers and desktop machines. These
emulators offer:

For users who require full in-circuit emulation, but not the expanded
resources of a traditional ICE, the compact emulator provides a superior
cost-performance ratio in an extremely compact desi g n. The emulator main
unit comes in a si g nificantly reduced size, compared with conventional
emulator systems, allowin g easier connection to tar g et systems.
Althou g h the compact emulator is very affordable, it has all the basic
functions needed for real development such as access to all of the devices ’
pins and memory map. It also provides real-time trace and hardware breaks.
